Century-Old Charlotte Mill Reopens as Mixed-Use Project

A renovated 100+ year old Charlotte textile mill is ready for tenants. The $70 million revamp of the Savona Mill is basically complete. Portman Holdings is helming the project, consisting of 180,000 square feet of office space, 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, a number of open-air patios, a rooftop deck and a large, and open space for music and community events.

Redevelopment of the 108-year-old textile mill began in February 2022. It consists of exposed brick, hardwood flooring, fresh coats of paint on the ceilings and floor-to-ceiling columns, and large windows that allow for natural sunlight brighten and open the space.

The Charlotte Business Journal reports the ground floor will likely house mostly food-and-beverage-type retailers. The second and third floors are broken up into 50,000-square-foot floor plates that will be leased to office users.
